Testimonials

I found a great group of talented business women who network well!
February Luncheon Guest

Being a member of NAWBO Nashville has been such a great decision for me. When I was getting started, it was invaluable to have all of this knowledge at my fingertips from the more experienced members. Now that I've been in business for a while, I value being able to share what I know. Every month, I learn something new I can use in my business, and the networking contacts alone have made it so worthwhile.

Beat the heat and join Nashville NAWBO for our August luncheon featuring a combination of learning and networking in the fun and relaxed atmosphere of Maggiano’s Little Italy on West End.  Our next luncheon is on Thursday, August 26th from 11-1PM.  Reserve your spot now!

Our August guest speaker, Butch Spyridon, president and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau, will discuss how new developments in Music City’s hospitality industry can benefit your business and how you can profit from its growth.

A hospitality industry veteran, Spyridon has led the charge to broaden the image of Nashville as Music City, beginning the first-ever city-wide branding initiative in 2004. Since that time the CVB has found new and innovative ways to grow its sales and marketing efforts keeping Nashville in the Top 25 performing hotel markets nationwide.

Butch Spyridon has served as the CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau (NCVB) since 1991. Under his leadership Nashville’s hospitality industry has reached the $4.0 billion mark, becoming Music City’s second largest industry.

Spyridon began his career in 1979 at the Mobile Chamber of Commerce as Assistant Manager of the Travel and Convention Department and was later promoted to Manager. From 1985 – 1991, he served as Executive Director of the Baton Rouge Area Convention & Visitors Bureau before moving on to Music City.

Throughout his career Spyridon has served on the boards of Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) and Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). Spyridon has received numerous awards and accolades including Nashville Sales Executive of the Year Award, the President’s Award from Meeting Professionals International, and the Stephen Foster Award from Nashville Songwriters Association International.

Spyridon serves on several civic boards including the Conservancy of the Parthenon and Centennial Park, and the Adventure Science Center. He also serves on industry related boards including the Nashville Hotel and Lodging Association, the Downtown Partnership, the Music City Bowl, the Museum of African American Music Art and Culture.

In recent years Spyridon has led the charge to broaden the image of Nashville as Music City, which began with the first-ever city-wide branding initiative in 2004. Since that time the CVB has found new and innovative ways to grow sales and marketing efforts. Highlights over the past five years include adding sales staff in 3 other cities, creating and growing city-wide events, forming numerous strategic partnerships and producing a monthly show for Sirius XM Radio featuring Nashville songwriters. These endeavors have helped keep Nashville in the top 25 hotel markets nationwide.
